R&D Associate Staff | Advanced Monitoring, Diagnosis, and Control
I develop sensing, statistical-learning, and digital-twin methods that help complex engineering systems operate more efficiently, reliably, and intelligently.
Current focus
My work combines data-driven modeling, sensing, controls, and optimization for applications in water systems, advanced monitoring, non-destructive evaluation, and energy infrastructure. At ORNL, I lead digital-twin research for water purification and contribute to advanced monitoring, diagnosis, and control research.
Digital twins for water systems
Real-time, data-driven methods for adaptive operations, energy-aware control, and resilient water infrastructure.
Intelligent sensing and diagnostics
Signal processing, multimodal sensing, fault detection, and non-destructive evaluation.
Machine learning for engineering
Statistical learning, sparse modeling, predictive analytics, and physics-informed data methods.
Featured work
Digital twin innovation for water purification
I lead ORNL’s digital-twin research for water purification. The work connects a virtual model with a physical pilot plant to adapt operating settings to real-time conditions and energy prices. ORNL featured the project in its May 2026 news story, Digital twin innovation cuts energy costs in water purification.
